About Atherton Thind Chartered Financial Planners
"The day I stop studying is the day I start to become a bad adviser."
Rob Atherton BA (Hons)/ APFS, Chartered Financial Planner, St. James's Place Partnership

This is because our financial world is ever-changing and so complex. To this end I am committed to keeping myself abreast of new developments and plan to take qualifications on a regular basis to keep my knowledge up-to-date.

It is this commitment that has been the driving force behind me achieving my status as a Chartered Financial Planner and I am proud to say that I am one of only 1,617 such qualified individuals in the UK.

“My clients in my eyes are an extension of my family and deserve to be treated as such.”
Gurvinder Thind BA (Hons) / Dip PFS, Financial Planner, St. James's Place Partnership

My personal philosophy is to treat my clients exactly as I would want somebody to treat myself and my family. This to me means building a strong relationship based on trust and really understanding what matters to the client.

This allows me to proceed by placing the client in an informed position and allowing them to make the best decisions for themselves from a position of strength.

We are fully qualified to give advice in a whole host of areas including:

  • Investments

  • Pensions

  • Inheritance Tax

  • Tax & Trusts*

  • Long-term care

  • Equity release**

  • Mortgages
We deliver holistic advice to all our clients, looking at finances as a whole rather than giving advice in one area, and we take time to get to know them all personally so as to deliver the best possible advice.

For example:
  • How a Will*** is written can impact on how much tax is paid on death.

  • A significant proportion of the proceeds of pensions and/or life cover can be lost to tax unless written under an appropriate trust.

  • It is important that legal documents are in place to allow access to finances should a loved one lose mental capacity.
Issues such as these mean it is vital that an Adviser understands the bigger picture in order to help the client grow and preserve their wealth accordingly.
