Charitable Interests

My involvement in this field began at the age of sixteen when I became Chair of the junior charity committee for Norwood. Four years later I was one of the founder members of the Young Variety Club, Applause, which put on shows and revues to raise funds to buy Variety Club Sunshine Coaches.

I am on the St. James's Place Foundation Committee and I’m always happy to blow our own trumpet in reporting we have been able to raise over £12m through the Partnership and the St. James's Place employees since our launch.

We offer contributory funding to a variety of causes in support of children and young people up to 25 years old, those whose lives have been challenged by disability, illness or disadvantage. We also support people of all ages through the Hospice Movement.

Forty percent of our funds go to UK Registered charities operating overseas, helping support charities that are focused on improving the lives of children living in poverty.

I am currently one of the co-chairs on the women’s division of British ORT part of the largest Jewish non-governmental educational and training organisation in the world. A non-political, not for profit group, we currently operate in 58 countries, spanning five continents.

Through a worldwide network of kindergartens, schools, colleges and educational projects, ORT annually provides hundreds of thousands of students of all ages with teaching that focuses on the practical skills needed to find jobs and develop careers. Our belief is that every child should have the opportunity to grow up safely; knowledgeable and proud of their heritage and with education that will sustain them for life and equip
them to deal with whatever challenges lie ahead.
