A financial advisor who has raised thousands of pounds for charity by completing a series of gruelling bike rides has come up with a novel approach to collecting sponsorship money from her clients.
This Friday (22 August), Louise Mitchell (41), director
and wealth manager of Wilson Mitchell & Co, will cycle from her office at Burley in Wharfedale to Selby, stopping off en route at Adel, York and Selby to enjoy a much-needed cup of tea with clients who have generously supported her.
Not satisfied with completing the 150-mile coast-to-coast (C2C) bike ride five weeks ago, Louise decided to embark on her own 60-mile ‘tea-to-tea’ ride as a way of thanking her clients for their continued support.
She explained: “I thought it would be a fun way to collect sponsorship money from people and came up with the idea of a ‘tea to tea’ ride in the hope that my clients might be able to provide me with a cup of tea when I make my pit-stops at Adel, York and Selby – I’m sure I will be ready for one by then!”
In addition to the recent coast-to-coast bike ride, Louise completed a physically demanding five-day bike ride across Cuba in 2006 and has also taken part in triathlons and other events to raise money for charity. As a partner of the St. James's Place Partnership, Louise donates the money that she raises to the two main charities that the Partnership supports - the Teenage Cancer Trust and Hope and Homes For Children (a charity that works to ensure that children grow up in an environment where they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential).
Amazingly, Louise only embarked on her training regime less than four weeks before the coast-to-coast ride, but added: “I do tend to train hard once I start though!”
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported my latest sponsored bike ride, which has raised more than £2,000 for these extremely worthy causes. With matching from The St. James's Place Wealth Management Group this will double to £4,000 for the Foundation”
